A Bit of Verve

I have been a huge fan of Verve for ages now, but when I packed everything up for the move my Verve stamps ended up in boxes that I couldn't get to. Well good news I started going into the boxes that had yet to be opened and found all my Verve stamps! It took a little bit of work, but I decided to play with two of the challenges Verve has going on right now too!The first being the current Viva La Verve Sketch, which is so darn cute! The second being the May Get Your Diva On Challenge! I have been watching these challenges since Julee introduced them and decided to play along this time. The current challenge is to use fabric on your creation so I stopped by Hobby Lobby and picked up two different black and white prints and made a card around both of those. The first print is the center scalloped circle on my card, the second print was cut out using a rose die to create a mostly black, with a bit of white accents rose. Since the fabrics I picked out were black and white I wanted to continue to color scheme in the rest of the card with a pop of one color, in this case I went with red since I just had to ink up Love Monkey! I had never realized that this poor guy had yet to see ink, but no worries, he is all inked up now! Plus I had to finish it all off with a bit of stitching and a fun red ribbon!

I had a lot of fun with both of these challenges, I do hope you enjoy my creation for today! Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Anni-Verve-sary Blog Hop!

Today marks 3 years for the fabulous stamp company Verve! I have been a huge fan of Verve Stamps since Julee started her company and I am thrilled to say that I am still a huge fan and supporter of Verve Stamps! Well to mark the 3rd year Anni-Verve-sary we are hopping our way all over! You should be joining my blog from Banu's Blog, if you haven't reached here from there be sure to head on over to Julee's Blog to kick things off right!
For my card today I pulled out one of my all time favorite Verve Stamps, Petals & Stems! There are just some stamp sets that always jump out at you while you are sorting though your stash and this set is one of those types of sets for me, I have inked it up many time, I simply love the style to this set! I also went with a cutie look for this card, I pulled out a bit of pink and cream with touches of red and green, and of course no flower is complete without a golden center! I do hope you do exactly what this card say, 'Take joy in the little things'. That has sort of become my moto recently, in fact I had a grilled cheese sandwich this week after being on a very low fat diet and it was like heaven! I did take joy in that simple meal....be sure to do that whenever you can!

Well, I guess it's time for you to move on in the hop...your next stop on the Hop is over at Dani's Blog!

I do hope you enjoy not only my stop, but the rest of the time celebrating this years Anni-Verve-sary! Here's to many more! If you get lost along the way be sure to visit Master Hop List!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Good morning all and a Very Happy Valentine's Day to you all! I wanted to share a v-day card today, but I wasn't sure which one. While I did make one for my guy, he hasn't received it yet, so I won't be posting that here today, but I will be sharing a card today that I made for one of the guys at work. I have a few people I work with who love the cards I make so every now and then one will ask for a card made for a special occasion, which was the case for today. I was asked to make a 'girlie' Valentine's Day card, but no roses. So I decided that Hearts were the way to go for this one! I pulled out my Hearts on Fire stamp set from Verve and some of my Be Loved paper from MME and got to work. I have already made this same guy a Birthday and Christmas card for his wife, so I wanted this card to not compete or compare to those creations. I do hope you enjoy this card, I had a lot of fun with it! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day all, I will see you back here tomorrow bright and early for a wonderful Artful INKables Blog Hop and new release!

Wedding Wishes

Last week one of my coworkers asked if I could create a card for her to use for the Wedding she would be attending this weekend. I was finally able to sit down and create this card for her. She said that the Wedding colors were Cream and Brown and that anything I thought would work would make a good card. I have made cards for her in the past and she seems to like my style, so I hope this card will be up to her expectations. I decided to use my Verve stamps and create an elegant card for this Wedding, I really like how simple this card is. I used the stamp set called Wishful Elegance and used not only the sentiment 'Wedding Wishes' but also this great background stamp, I just love the way these stamps stamp solid images! Hope you have a wonderful day, thank you for stopping by!

More September Release Verve Challenges!

For the September release, Verve celebrated the release with some great challenges leading up to the party last Friday night! I only got the chance to complete four of the five issued challenges, so I thought that I would share with you the other two I created! I try to play along with as many challenges as I can when it comes to Verve, I love all the various types of challenges they issue within their forum on SCS. This first card I created based on a color combination challenge. This challenge was to create a card using the colors of Orange Yellow, Cream, Deep Brown and Grey Green. I had so much fun with this one, in fact I inked up two of my new stamp sets from last months release, both A Cup of Life and Bountiful Backgrounds and I really like how the distressing turned out on this one!
This challenge was a wonderful sketch that Julee created for us to use! I love sketch challenges, so this was certainly a challenge that I had to complete! I had a lot of fun with these colors, the light blue and light green always looks so nicely together, and I really wanted a bit of pop so I used Enchanted Evening ink from PTI for the blooms and the sentiment. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and you enjoyed the Verve creations for today!

Enjoying Some Verve!

I can't believe it is that time again! It is time for another great Verve release and I can't wait! As with every Verve release there are some wonderful challenges being posted in the Verve forum to play along with! I got the chance last night to create two cards based on some of the challenges posted, I had so much fun using some of these stamp sets from the last release! The first card I created was for Charmaine's challenge to create a card using a great color combination! She decided that Deep Purple, Olive, Burnt Orange and Teal would be a great combination, I would never have put these together! The second challenge that I got to play along with was issued by Lynda to create a card and make it shine! So I pulled out this great foil paper that I've had for a while now and I thought it would look great with this super stylish heel from the Express Yourself set! I also had to add these great little pieces of bling, and since I haven't used it yet...some smooches! What more could be added to make a card shine! Shine on!
Enjoy - Stamps: Enjoy from Verve; Paper: Whisper White, Dusty Durango, Cottage Wall DP, Tempting Turquoise, Plum Pudding ; Ink: Lavender Moon, Spring Moss; Accessories: Kaiser Self Adhesive, Pop Dots, May Arts Ribbon

Verve-ing!

This month marks the Anni-VERVE-sary at Verve! I can't believe it has been two years from when Verve began, I know that I have loved the entire ride! In celebration of their two year Anni-VERVE-sary Julee posted five wonderful sketches. For this card I used the second sketch supplied and decided to make a little Verve DP, can you see the swirls in the paper, those are all Verve images from the Beautiful Kindness! I hope you link this one, its pretty simple, but I think sort of cute.
For my second card in this post I used the third sketch that Julee posted. I got this wonderful paper for my birthday from Jodi and I have been happily using it since it arrived, you may notice it from my AI post this weekend! Thanks Jodi, you know much I am enjoying this paper pack! Hope you all have a wonderful day, enjoy!

This card I created using the fourth sketch that was supplied! I had so much fun with this paper and the colors just really pop! Not only did I use one of the sketches from this releases challenge, but I also added Amber's Giveaway challenge to this, which was to create a birthday card. ***Third Post for the Day***Welcome to the first ever official Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop. Verve turns two today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you’ve just happened along, be sure to hop on over there to start from the beginning! And to make this party a real shindig, there’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verve’s entire August release! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!
For my card today I just had to use the stamp set Up, Up and Away I really just love this set, I think it may be my favorite Verve stamp set! Of course with the use of any great stamp set you have to use your newest goodies! So I grabbed for my new SU! cardstock and decorative papers, Soft Suede and Thoroughly Modern DP! I really love who this set and the papers seem to work so well together. Of course no card is complete unless there is ribbon on it, and not just any ribbon but yummy May Arts ribbon!

Thanks for stopping by! Now it’s time to hop on over to lmurph’s blog, Forever Embossing, for a little more Verve-y goodness. Enjoy the rest of the hop, I know its going to be amazing! Have a great day!

Verve-y

I sometimes make masses of cards and don't have enough time to share them all on my blog, and since I had nothing scheduled for today's post, I thought I would share a few cards in my 'to post' folder! For the April release party for Verve Stamps Julee issued three great sketch challenges and one fabulous color combination challenge. These are the last two cards from the three sketches that were posted for the April stamp release that I haven't had the chance to post about. I went with pink and more pink with this first cupcake card, isn't it just cute fun! I love this cupcake stamp set and all my little embellishments, not too much, but super fun!
I think this card is perfect for something baby, and after my sister saw this card she 'stole' it. Now let me elaborate on that a bit, after I create a card I share it with my family members, sometimes if they have an event or something coming up they ask if they can use it. Now, sometimes I create cards with an intention in mind, and sometimes I just create cards to have that creativity rush, this card had no intentions. So my sister decided that she would like to use this card as part of her friends baby shower card! She is thrilled that I let her 'steal' the card, hopefully her friend will enjoy this card as much as my sister does! Hope you like today's cards, tomorrow I will be posting my Unity Blog Hop post, then all next week I am hosting 'Unity All Week Long' so lots of Unity creations coming your way soon!

Viva La Verve!

I have a bit more Verve to share today! This past week I completed all the Viva La Verve challenges all with the 'twists' of course and I was eligible for the Viva La Verve Champion. Guess what?! I actually won, I am still in shock, my name was randomly selected and I will be getting an either release worth of stamps from Verve. Its been a few days and I swear I haven't come down from hearing that I won! So I would like to say thank you to Julee for having theses great challenges and prizes and thank you to Amber for posting some amazing sketches every week! Now on to the cards! Since I won for completing all 5 challenges, today I am posting all five cards together, hope you enjoy!

Surprisingly enough, each sketch I seemed to pull another color to use, what are the odds of that?! Honestly that never happens with me, I tend to get stuck in color families but not this time. My second card is my favorite sketch and favorite card from the grouping, although a lot of people seem to like the first card I posted above.I am a bit behind in my birthday card stash and the two cards above I plan to give out as birthday cards to friends and family. I can't wait to see the response I get from them, I have some people in mind for these cards too, I know they will love them! Both this Mother's Day card and the first card I made for one of the guys at work, I still have two more I need to complete for his cards. Can you believe that Mother's Day is almost here? Its already the beginning of May, I can't believe that its already that late in the year, where did half of 2009 go? Oh yea, I slept through about two months of it...oops!My last card I followed the sketch and made it a nice spring card, I love how I worked with the shades of these colors, I think it really works well. A little too simple maybe but fun all the same. Hope you enjoy all the cards I shared today, I really had a lot of fun creating cards for this challenge and thank you again to Julee for making the prize so amazing, I can't wait to see the next stamps to be released!

Verveacious!

On Friday Verve Stamps released all sorts of fun stamps, and I got the chance to participate in all of the release challenges this month! I think that may be the second time that I was able to get them all compelted in time and I am thrilled with my results this time! There were two more sketches I used and a color challenge and I hope you like them all! I decided to share my favorite one from the challenges, my color combination challenge! The colors were to use light blue, light yellow, and light brown to create something, and I went to town! I started with a typical layout and then just went to town! I used this wonderful sentiment that I love, pluse these super cute flowers. I also got the chance to ink up a few of my stamp sets that have yet to see ink. I have plans to complete this months Viva La Verve challenges, so we shall see if that happens, but I LOVE Verve sketches, actually truth be told I love sketches! I hope you enjoy my post today! Enjoy!

Blooming Verve

This week is the new Verve Stamps release and with every new stamp release Verve hosts all sorts of great challenges! This release brings four great challenges, three great sketches and an all new color combo! I started with the first sketch from this release, and I decided to go springy with it! I have always loved Julee’s sketches, but her release sketches always seem more fun to me, I am not sure why, but the challenge always seems a bit harder, but well worth the effort! One of my favorite part to these sketches is how they make me look for ways to fit my instant inspiration into the sketch itself. When I start a sketch challenge I always pick out a stamp set that I think coordinates with the feel to the sketch. Some sketches seem regal, some are cute and fun, this one just shouted ‘spring’, although I don’t know what it was. I set out looking through all my Verve Stamps, as you may imagine I have a ‘few’ to select from and I settled on one of my newest sets Floral Symphony from the last Verve release. I love the tulips and the sentiments in this set so I just had to use both. I love how the entire card came out, the colors seem to work well, and the end result really did scream ‘spring’ like I wanted it to! Hope everyone has a great day, I do apologize for the missing Anya post yesterday for the Hop. My doctor’s appointment lasted a lot longer then expected and I didn’t get to finish the card I had created, but hopefully I can share that creation with everyone this weekend!

A Bit of Verve

Every week at the Verve Forum on SCS the wonderful Amber hosts a fun sketch challenge called Viva La Verve! Not only are the sketches amazing each week, but there is also the possibility to win something for participating every week and using the 'twist' to the sketch. I almost completed all of the March sketches, and I never shared week two or three here on my blog, so its time to share today!

For both of these cards I used the newest stamp sets released from Verve, I am loving these sets! I also love the smell of the new stamps coming out of the packaging, and they get even better when you create something that you really like. I went for bright and springy cards with these sketches and I had a blast. I am hoping to get the chance to participate all month long for the April sketches, I love sketch challenges, and Amber really does a great job, plus the twists make it even more fun! Hope you have a wonderful Saturday everyone, I plan on creating some cards all day today, its going to be all sorts of fun!

Another Verve Sketch!

Today is the Verve Stamps release day, and the wonderful Julee has posted a sketch challenge to be completed by tonight. I saw the layout yesterday and I had to give it a try, it look simple but fun! I decided on using this adorable stamp set, Little Pumpkin, and I have yet to ink him up, so I thought this was the perfect time! Then to match the Little Pumpkin set I used Tall Oaks for the large acorns to the side, I really like how this one came out. I love this color, Summer Sunrise from PaperTrey, its not a really light orange, its a little bit to a yellow shade and I just love the color.I thought it would go nicely with the Dark Chocolate from PaperTrey and they really do work well together. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Have a great day!

Vervealicious!

This week I got to play along with the Viva la Verve challenge! Each week I look at the sketch Amber posts in the Verve forum on SCS, put it on my list to complete and I always seem to forget about it, but I finally sat down this week and created! Not only did I complete the sketch, but I also completed the twist that was a part of the sketch, which was to use buttons in some way! I used the stamp set Abundant Blessings and decided to use the leaves in the set to create background paper. I then used a main circular image for the focus of the card and added the super cute sentiment Abundant Blessings. I really had a lot of fun with this sketch and challenge, hope you like it! Have a great Thursday all!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope that you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I don't have a Valentine this year, but I spent tonight with my Mom and my Sister, we watched a girly movie, we had dinner, and we went out for dessert. It was a great night and we still may watch another movie shortly. I had flowers sent to my Mom for Valentine's Day and she loves them! They are a variety of Tulips, and not just regular tulips but also some Parrot Tulips (they are so pretty). If they bloom a bit more I will be sure to post a picture of the bouquet. Today's card is one I made for a friend in our little Secret Sister swap, I can't wait till she opens up her gifts and sees this and the lollipop container I made, which I will be posting later this week. I used the 'VLVFeb01' sketch on Spiltcoast Stampers in the Verve Forum for the layout, and I just love how it came out! Hope you enjoy your day of love!

All Those Layers

Tonight is the Verve Stamps release party, I had planned to enter some cards into their challenges, but unfortunately being sick got in the way of creating cards this week. Instead I decided to share a card that I created for a Verve swap a few months ago, this stamp set is one of my favorite ones so far from Verve. I love how the flower can be layered and this color combo was just so much fun. I love the look of Celery with most colors, and matching it with Pure Poppy and Berry Sorbet really seems to work. I used my ticket corner and some fun decorative paper to accent the main flower image and of course a dew drop as the focal point. Hope you like what I shared today, I plan on creating cards to be scheduled to post next week, hopefully that will work out and I can continue to share with you while I rest. Have a great day everyone!

Merry Merry....belated

I hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday! I had a nice day with my family which always nice and getting to spend more time with each of them is great. Since I've been doing the Christmas thing, instead of sharing more Christmas things with you today I want to share a card I created for a Verve swap what seems like ages ago. I guess it would be two months or so by now there was a great Verve swap that I joined with not only some of the Verve Divas but also the Owner and head Diva Julee! The cards that I received from this swap were just stunning, really something to enjoy. I love this color combination of white, dark brown, and light teal the colors just work so well together. Plus these birds are just too cute together, love them! Hope you like what I shared today, be sure to drop by tomorrow for some fun!
